The Sopranos

Stevie Nicks has brought plenty of folks collectively, but one New York couple’to the White Witch is really amazing it simply has been brought to life s love.

Directed by Sara Kiener, the animated short The Shawl follows comedian Shane O’Neill and designer Dusty Linn Childers who began as long-distance fans, their relationship buoyed by Stevie Nicks’ lip-sync movies they’d deliver forth and back between Madison, Wisconsin and New York City. The crux of the movie is a critical experience the two had while.

“Despite their nose bleed seats Dusty saw something particular in Stevie this night, an invisible observation that no one else seemed to see,” Kiener writes about the film’s Kickstarter page.

“Shane didn’t believe a word about it and pressure grew between the bunch. Stevie twirled when their quarrel struck a fever pitch and the audience erupted. Silence set upon the scene as Stevie stood before the mike. Just then, she talked directly to Shane and Dusty, putting their quarrel. –for now. ”

One of the highlights of the year for the men is that the Night of a Thousand Stevies at night night at New York. “I was going for a couple of decades prior to assembly Shane,” states Dusty (a.k.a. Dust Tea Shoulders), who introduced his boyfriend to the function. “until he went Nicks using intimate lace gown, a crazy curly wig and, obviously, a rookie shawl He started his twirl as a sort of hybrid. ”

Last year the men twirled silk flags at NOTS as Bridget Barkan sang “Crystal,” off the 1991 Practical Magic soundtrack. “We simulated the water ‘which was flowing all around,’& ” remembers Dusty. “It’s a full gag. ”

Kiener and Shane met with at 2004. She and animator Brianne Farley knew they desired to make a film about Dusty and Shane away, however, she adds, “We needed to find the narrative so we only let them riff and booked a recording studio. ”

From a four-hour recording session came the inspiration for its 20-minute cartoon, which is inspired by works like James Blagden’s Dock Ellis & The LSD No-No.

Listening to the playback, Kiener knew the couple’s Stevie Nicks anecdote was the only to accommodate: “It’s all about how Dusty and Shane fell in love, how their love for Stevie kept them close even when they were far apart, and it’s chock full of gay tailgating scenes in Stevie Nicks concerts, having a dash of woo-woo fashion witchcraft. ”

Considering that the boys’ adoration for Nicks, doesn’t know about The Shawl?

“In my head, Stevie understands about every single time I or any thinks about her,” Dusty insists. “rsquo & she;s omnipresent.

Kiener, a huge Nicks fan herself, describes the film as “RuPaul. ” The Kickstarter effort finishes November 29 and, if The Shawl shows successful, there’s plenty of material for one more film–or just a sequence.

“rsquo; s & Shane & rsquo & & & There;s tour of America at a van retrofitted to look like a tea pot,” Dusty states. “It’therefore exactly the things movies dream they are made of. ”

The Shawl Kickstarter finishes November 29.
